Fat Bitch #1 Zine Update!

Look what I got put together! The zine is a small collection of some of the work I've done this year, some serious, most silly. There's a few comics, some ladies, and even some fan art!

It was put together for my Sequential Art final. Right now I've only done a limited run for that class, but if there's enough interest I might do a second run to sell online!

Battle Quest!!!

The cover for the rules booklet of my Maps final-- a collaborative board game! Type by Josh.

Fat Bitch (Vol. #1) Zine Cover!

Have a sneak-peek of the zine I'm putting together for my Sequential Art final! It's going to have comics, drawings, and some fan-art... Most of which has been previously posted, but the cover (this!) and the title-page are going to be brand new! Photographs will be taken when they finally get produced.

Perhaps equally as important, this is my 100th post! I'm super grateful to everyone who keeps up with this blog, and I hope that you're enjoying my illustrations-- and will keep enjoying them in the future!

XOXO,
Aimee

"Video Game" Character Designs

Some character designs for Maps! You might see more of these delightfully stereotypical video game characters later...

Who Will Save Your Soul?

And now for something completely different! Well, not completely. This was done with a dip pen and ink-- the original piece is about 11"x15". The spot color was added digitally. It's quite a change from the nearly shape/color-only stuff I've been messing around with, but I actually had a ton of fun. This was a media-restricted final done for my Illustration 2 class.

Map Of Fandom - Revised Edition!

I had some free time, so I took a stab at revising this! I think it's improved. For one thing, I didn't forget Step #11 this time.

A Mind, Dismembered (Magazine Spread)

This is a two-page magazine spread for an article about magical penis theft! Which apparently is an actual thing. You can read the article here.

The Delivery

And now for something completely different! This is a 18"x24" poster comic. It is... the opposite of all of the things I usually do! It was an interesting experiment.

Based on statistics from The Williams' Institute Missouri Census Snapshot.

The statistics shown are as follows:
50.3% are lesbian couples
49.7% are gay couples
15% are multiracial couples
20% are raising children

Out of (in 2000) 9,428 couples-- which had increased to 14,722 couples by 2005.

Reflections

Have a comic!

A Map of Fandom

[REWORKED, SEE MORE RECENT POST]

My latest assignment in my Maps & Places class was to make a map of a subculture. I immediately decided to do the one that I, dare I say it, love the most-- fandom. It tends to be one of those you-only-understand-it-if-you're-in-it things, but I figured I would give it a shot, anyway. As silly a thing as it seems, I probably would not be the same person I am today without it, as a lot of my early (and not-so-early) artistic inspiration and endeavors were fan-art!

Anyway, have a map. And for those who are interested, I might be looking into ways to get this printed as a poster...

Some Daily Comics

Friday Comics

Take-Out Comics

DJ Comics

Modeling Comics

Coat Comics

These were some daily comics I drew for my Sequential Art Class! Autobiographical and silly, for your viewing pleasure.

The United States of Aimee

Sorry about the lack of posting! Have a sketchbook assignment I did for Maps class. Perhaps you will get to see some dumb comics soon?

Joan

This is Joan, at the stake. While technically this was done for an open assignment in my Illustration 2 class, it's a subject I've wanted to do a piece on for a while. Joan of Arc is an extremely interesting figure-- not so much as a saint to me, as I'm areligious, but just as a woman and a character. If you want to know more about her, you should read the beautiful article "Running Towards The Gunshots", over at Tiger Beatdown. It had a big part in reminding me why I'm fascinated with her!

Phone-Tag

Except it's like... unrequited phone-tag!

Map Of A Small Section Of The Internet

Map based on the idea of "a place where I feel comfortable". My map is of part of the internet-- a "place" I spend a lot of time. I think everyone sees it somewhat differently-- I often picture it as a library, partially because of the overwhelming amount of knowledge and media you can find there, but also because I find libraries comfortable. It's a small section of the internet because I think that no matter how long you spend there, everyone kind of sees only their own corner of it: thus, a small section of the large "series of tubes" that some say make up the internet.

Laundry Day Pin-Up!

Where are his clothes? Why, in the washing machine, of course! Anyway, this was a bit of an experiment in pretty much every way. I mean, count the things that I did in this that I never do! There are a lot. But I'm really pleased with it!

Here Be Dragons/England-Spain-France

&

First two sketchbook assignments for Maps class.

How To Navigate The Torchwood Hub

First finished map for my super-fun, super-interesting class on... wait for it... maps! This depicts the Torchwood hub from the BBC's "Torchwood", in all it's improbable and semi-accurate glory.

Feelings On Princesses

First comic finished for Sequential Art class! Supposed to depict something I did over winter break. That I finished this today is a miracle, considering I am currently being held hostage by both Influenza A and strep throat. This took way longer than it should have, also, I want to throw up now, but THERE YOU GO, MY FEELINGS ON THE SUBJECT OF PRINCESSES.
