Food Celebrity Portrait

Jamie Oliver Portrait
Jamie Oliver Spots

I haven't posted a lot from it here, but I've been in an Illustrating the Edible class this semester! Our latest assignment was a portrait of a food celebrity, along with two spot illustrations, one of which needed to be their name. I was really pleased with the way this turned out! It's Jamie Oliver, British food guy-- based on this article.

Maintenance

Maintenance

Though I have (for now) moved on from Dumpling Princess illustrations, I'm still working on narrative illustrations for my thesis! As you might be able to tell from this illustration, these are going to be about handsome dudes in space, because if I get to draw whatever I want, I'm going to cover all of my bases.

THE DUMPLING PRINCESS - The Wedding

THE DUMPLING PRINCESS - The Wedding
And last but not least... happily ever after!
This is actually the last drawing in this series-- next week I'll be moving on to a different story. I've had a great time doing these illustrations, and was super glad to see that so many people liked it! If you were into this, don't despair... Masha and company are probably not gone forever!

THE DUMPLING PRINCESS - The Meeting

THE DUMPLING PRINCESS - The Meeting

Our hero meets her prince! Or our prince meets his hero, or our hero meets this super talented baker lady, or something. While on patrol at the local market, Sorej made the (happy) mistake of doubting Masha's dumpling-making prowess. Clearly, he is about to eat his words... just as soon as he finishes chewing.

THE DUMPLING PRINCESS - Concept Art (Thesis)

Masha is a baker who falls in love with the prince of her war-loving kingdom. Won over by her kind heart and her amazing dumpling recipe, he proposes to her... but tradition dictates that if Masha wants to marry him, she has to fight the last person to marry into the royal family: his mother. Leader-Consort Zareni is a stern woman who famously lost her left hand fighting for the Leader's right, and the last thing Masha wants to do is fight her-- especially when, orphaned by war at a young age, she has no taste for fighting at all!

Long time no see, guys! I thought it was finally time to share what I've been working on... the first part of my thesis! I'll be doing a series of story concepts, each complete with character designs, environment concept elements, and a series of illustrations, all to be finally packaged as a zine. This is only the first story concept I'm working on, but I'm really enjoying it-- I hope you do too, because illustrations are on the way!

TOMORROW, a short comic

A LONG LONG TIME AGO (APRIL), IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY (BALTIMORE)... I made a comic, and then, despite the hours of work and sweat and agony I put into it, I sort of forgot about it for a while. You may have also forgotten, or you may have not!

Either way, that comic, Tomorrow, is finally online for your reading pleasure! Do you like space? Do you like feelings? Then this is definitely a comic for you!

I hope you enjoy it!

Overgrown Jungle Ruins

Overgrown Jungle Ruins
This is a drawing of the post-apocalyptic future in which all sorts of statues are in ruins and there's an overgrown jungle and there are tribes of hardcore Amazonian ladies wandering about! What a good future.

The Upsides of Being An Introvert

The Upsides of Being An Introvert

Continuing in my streak of not having particularly high hopes for a piece and then making something I really like, have an editorial piece for an article titled "The Upsides of Being An Introvert"! It's about how it's okay to be an introvert. I'm not super sure why we needed an article to that effect, but there you go.

This piece is actually about princesses.

How To Decide On The Floral Arrangements For Two Dinner Parties At Once

How To Decide On The Floral Arrangements For Two Dinner Parties At Once

Put all other interests on hold, patterns are awesome! So is the fact that some Victorian ladies dueled topless once. I think it should have been a fight-club-like situation. Alternatively, I would like to start a Victorian-dress topless dueling club, please!

Veritas/Aequitas

VeritasAequitas

Two pieces for my Lifestlye Illustration final! The assignment was to draw someone as they are during the day and as they are during the night. I took this opportunity to draw pretty religious stuff as well as use some of my Boondock Saints love in a (somewhat) productive manner!

Matching The Decor

Matching The Decor (1)

Matching The Decor (2)

Two pieces for my Lifestyle Illustration class advertising... vibrators! Long story short, the sketches were originally advertising cameras, but everyone (including me) agreed that they were terrible... and so someone suggested to change them to vibrator advertisements, and I did, and it was a good decision, as I feel these came out excellently.

Advertised are the LELO INEZ, the LELO ALIA, and the LELO ISLA.
