Happy almost-Halloween, guys! Have a poster for the classic 1986 sci-fi horror film, "Aliens"! Directly by James Cameron and starring Sigourney Weaver, you should definitely give it a try if you haven't seen it! Even for those of us (me) who don't like horror. It's more... bad-ass action-adventure, with scary bits.

There are two versions of this because a 4-color version was required for class, but I cheated and added a fifth color for kicks afterward. I actually don't know which one I like better! There are tons of other versions kicking around on my hard-drive, too, with loads of colors.

I realize I haven't posted in forever! After my (super successful) experiment in fashion 'zine production, I got hopelessly sucked into working at a job that actually paid me money.

But now I don't have to worry about that! I'm back in school as of Monday, and to kick off the school-year, have a sneak peek... of something not at all school related! In some sort of intense artistic fit of brilliance, I drew a short comic which will be available to purchase at SPX (Small Press Expo, for those not in the know!) & possibly online after that?

It's quite a change from the nearly shape/color-only stuff I've been messing around with, but I actually had a ton of fun. This was a media-restricted final done for my Illustration 2 class.

I attended the one here in Baltimore for the first time last week, and it was everything I had dreamed of and more. Modeling was the impossibly handsome Tony Apollo!

My latest assignment in my Maps & Places class was to make a map of a subculture. I immediately decided to do the one that I, dare I say it, love the most-- fandom. It tends to be one of those you-only-understand-it-if-you're-in-it things, but I figured I would give it a shot, anyway. As silly a thing as it seems, I probably would not be the same person I am today without it, as a lot of my early (and not-so-early) artistic inspiration and endeavors were fan-art!

Anyway, have a map. And for those who are interested, I might be looking into ways to get this printed as a poster...

This is Joan, at the stake. While technically this was done for an open assignment in my Illustration 2 class, it's a subject I've wanted to do a piece on for a while. Joan of Arc is an extremely interesting figure-- not so much as a saint to me, as I'm areligious, but just as a woman and a character. If you want to know more about her, you should read the beautiful article "Running Towards The Gunshots", over at Tiger Beatdown. It had a big part in reminding me why I'm fascinated with her!

Map Of A Small Section Of The Internet

Map based on the idea of "a place where I feel comfortable". My map is of part of the internet-- a "place" I spend a lot of time. I think everyone sees it somewhat differently-- I often picture it as a library, partially because of the overwhelming amount of knowledge and media you can find there, but also because I find libraries comfortable. It's a small section of the internet because I think that no matter how long you spend there, everyone kind of sees only their own corner of it: thus, a small section of the large "series of tubes" that some say make up the internet.

For an assignment involving re-interpreting a fairy-tale! This is Cinder, who is bossed around by his evil step-mother and his two step-sisters. He gets saved by a Fairy Godmother, who helps him to got the ball, where he meets the beautiful warrior-princess! She kicks the crap out of his evil family, and he writes her silly songs. They live happily ever after!
